FOUNDATION

BioDesign Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, manages the intellectual bequest of Luigi Colani, the most influential designer of the 20th century, referred to as the ‘modern Leonardo’. BioDesign Foundation applies Colani Design’s pragmatic, solution-orientated design philosophy in its mission to work towards restoring harmony between humans, technology and nature. BioDesign Foundation is committed to researching and realising robust environmental solutions and transforming the world’s problems into challenge, solution, action.

SOLUTION-ORIENTED DESIGN

The 90/10 formula by Colani forms the philosophical foundation of the BioDesign Foundation’s work: 90% inspiration from nature + 10% Colani transformation = BioDesign. 90/10 emphasizes nature as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for human innovation. At the same time, it underscores human dependence on an intact natural environment.

The BioDesign Foundation applies Colani Design’s pragmatic and solution-oriented design philosophy to restore harmony between humans, technology, and nature.
